Mickle Trafford Preschool aims to provide a welcoming inclusive environment where children feel happy and secure and their sense of belonging is fostered. Our dedicated and well qualified staff support the good progress they make in their learning and development through secure knowledge of the childrens’ interests and also close observation of the ways they play, learn and develop in order to plan meaningful learning activities that enhance their skills and knowledge . We have a daily routine which incorporates snack times in the morning and afternoon as well as many diverse activities both indoors and outdoors.
Rising 5 children visit the neighbouring Ofsted rated outstanding school twice weekly to spend time in the Reception class and to participate in a ‘Multiskills’ class in the school Hall . Transitions are smoothed through this process and the children all look forward to attending ‘Big School’ in the September.
We have a Forest School area which we use regularly and where the children explore and observe wildlife e.g. insects and birds. We also have Circle times in our log circle when we sing songs, show and tell about our interests and experiences, and share stories.
Each child is allocated a Keyworker who develops a special relationship with the child and their parent/carers. Keyworkers meet regularly with parents/carers to keep them fully informed of their child’s progress. Our online learning journey, Tapestry, sends regular updates to parents/carers with photographs and videos of the children in the preschool setting.
